Note: Locking Other Assignments and Templates is only available to Course Administrators.
Locking Other Assignments
Locking an assignment prevents other instructors from making local copies to edit for their own purposes, and will gray out and disable all fields on the assignment’s settings page when instructors attempt to view or edit its properties. Other Course Administrators will be able to copy and edit the assignment as usual.
Assignments can be locked from the Other Assignments Library page.
To lock an assignment, check the corresponding checkbox in the “Locked” column, and then press Save Changes.
To unlock an assignment, uncheck the corresponding checkbox in the “Locked” column, and then press Save Changes.
Assignments can also be locked individually from their respective settings pages:
Notice the checkbox marked “Lock” just above the table. Check this box, and press Save Changes to lock the assignment. Uncheck the box, and press Save Changes to unlock it.
Locking Other Assignment Templates
Locking a template prevents other instructors from making local copies to edit for their own purposes, and will gray and disable all fields on the template’s settings page when instructors attempt to view or edit its properties. Instructors will also not be able to unassign locked templates that are assigned to their sections. Other Course Administrators will be able to copy and edit the template as usual.
Templates can be locked individually from their respective settings pages:
Notice the checkbox marked “Lock” just above the table. Check this box, and press Save Changes to lock the template. Uncheck the box, and press Save Changes to unlock it.
On locking or unlocking a template, you will be asked if you would like to apply the selected action to the assignments within it. Bear in mind that locking a template will not automatically lock its contents, and instructors will be able to make local copies of any unlocked assignments included in a locked template.
